What if travel were more than a destination?
MY STORY
Long before I ever held a passport, the road was my classroom.
Granny loaded my sister and me into her van every summer without much fanfare. Campgrounds, open fires, catching fireflies at dusk, and sleeping under the stars. She spent more than fifty years as a member of the Girl Scouts of the USA because she believed nature shapes who we become. Thanks to her, I learned the magic of nature and to respect Mother Earth.
My parents carried that same truth in an eighteen-foot RV, winding up and down the Eastern seaboard toward the next bluegrass festival. Hours on the road with my family, music waiting at the other end, life was simple and completely free. Thanks to my parents, my love of travel was born.
In my early twenties the world got a little bigger. My first trip outside the US was Costa Rica, so lush and green it felt otherworldly. Monkeys swinging from the trees, toucans enjoying breakfast with us, my first Cacao ceremony, and people so generous you immediately felt like family. It was the first time I understood that travel could feed you in ways that had nothing to do with a meal.

Journeys that shaped me
During my first trip to Ireland I stood watching mist roll over green hills like I had stepped into my own fairytale. The myths and mystery felt alive beneath my feet. My spirit was not just stirred, it was dancing. Ireland showed me that I was meant for this.
Egypt felt like coming home. There is magic in that ancient land that is impossible to ignore. Standing in Sekhmet's sacred temple I fell to my knees before her and left something at her feet I had carried for decades. Egypt was where I learned that travel can also heal.
There are so many beautiful places and experiences that continue to inspire me.
In Belize I climbed Mayan temples and felt history pulse through stone. In Mexico I sat in Temazcal ceremony and let the heat burn away what no longer served me. In Hawaii I went forest bathing in the mountains and let the land restore me.
In Haiti, I watched the children of New Life Children's Home sing each night with a joy so pure it felt like ceremony. In a place that had every reason to feel broken, I witnessed a resilience, faith, and hope that changed me forever.
Every place. Every person. Every ceremony.
All of it has shaped who I am and how I travel.
That is what sacred travel does.
It transforms us.
Emerald Places was born from all of it.
